ORBITER OFFERS UNIQUE SIDE ANTENNA TECHNOLOGY FOR RACE TIMING AND LAP COUNTING

Our side antennas use phased detect technology. The propagation of radio energy produces two straight lines. Think of a baseball field where the Orbiter detector is home plate. There are two straight lines for 18 feet on the right and left which mimic home to first base and home to third base. The timer can select which straight line he wants to use for timing by selecting “first tag seen” or “last tag seen.” When two Spires are used in tandem on a start, finish line, or way-point, the timer selects “Corkscrew.” This allows reading timing transponders on the front, back, or side of an athlete with detection all on the same line.

Both professionals and novices can easily use our Chip Timing and Lap Counting system with accurate results in both time and counting laps. Orbiter is versatile and can be used in many situations, ranging from schools, races, and fitness testing. This is because our software is a tool that times any human-powered event. Our detector hardware makes smart and autonomous decisions independent of live internet, ensuring that your recording of the race is safe from outside interference.

All Side Antennas are not the same, as Orbiter is the only company with phased detect antennas. These antennas produce more accurate “on the finish line” times and eliminate the need for multiplexing. Multiplexing means the full line of a mat is on only one mat segment at a time. A line of mats typically has 4 mat segments or more. Not only are mats difficult to set up with multiple mat segments and wires from multiple mats being linked up, but they have half the energy output than Orbiter. Orbiter has 24 volts DC power versus 12 volts DC formats.

Most importantly to note, the portability and the lightweight system of Orbiter render other heavy weight timers obsolete with no need to assemble since Orbiter comes all-in-one. This comes in addition to the durability of other timers since typically the coppers inside are delicate and would fray with it being out of tune and in need to be replaced. This comes in contrast with Orbiter, where not only is it more durable, but one example is that one of our systems lasts for 10 years even when dropped often.
